Guild of Australian Hypnotherapists (GoAH) is an association of professional, accredited clinical hypnotherapists whose skills and qualifications are among the highest in Australia. Our members undertake professional supervision, meet ongoing professional education requirements and adhere to a strong Code of Ethics and conduct.
GoAH is a member of The Hypnotherapy Council of Australia the National Peak Body for hypnotherapy. Our members are listed on the HCA’s National Register of Accredited Hypnotherapists.
One of the most common FAQ GoAH hears is ‘what do you stand for?’
Our mission is to support, mentor, facilitate supervision, and enhance the training of clinical hypnotherapists. This assists our members in their professional work and also provides a community of trusted clinicians for the public and other health professionals to refer to when necessary.
You can read more about our core values here.
Absolutely. One of GoAH’s main functions is the ongoing education of our members. We do this by providing:
Online training opportunities and workshops
Face to face workshops in major cities around Australia
Free monthly webinars via zoom
You can keep up to date and find out more about our CPD programs here.
GoAH has negotiated favourable rates for professional indemnity insurance for our members with two providers. Using one of these providers ensures that the insurance you need is tailor made for our profession and having more than one provider means our members have a choice of insurer.
There are more than 30 private health insurance providers in Australia and of these a small number provide cover for hypnotherapy services. Generally hypnotherapy comes under extras cover and a high level of insurance is required to make a claim. As of April 2022 GoAH members have been accredited for the following health funds:
HBF
CBH
HCF
HCI
Queensland Country Health Fund
St Lukes Health
We are at present negotiating with other private health insurers on behalf of our clinicians. All funds have different rules and requirements but there is generally an upper limit of around $200 which can be claimed in any one year. Clients are advised to check with their insurer as to whether their plan covers hypnotherapy.
